How it works

From your goal to the lesson in class

You say in plain language where your class needs to get to, the way you would tell a colleague. GoYou lays out the line and builds every lesson in it, and you stay in charge.

This is how it goes, step by step.

Beforehand, once

You and your classes

You set out which subjects you teach, how you teach and which teaching activities you like to use, and for each class the level, where the group is and what they are stuck on. You do that once, and it grows along: what your class has covered and what you are working towards get added without you having to say it again. A chatbot asks for all of that every single time.

  1. Step 1

    Say where your class needs to get to

    You describe the goal and how many lessons you have, in plain language. Is the goal not sharp yet? Then GoYou helps you put it into words: achievable, and at the level of thinking of your class. Already have material, such as a worksheet or a photo of the page in your textbook? Send it along and GoYou builds on it. A single lesson works too.

  2. Step 2

    GoYou lays out the line

    You see the steps towards your goal, with the assessment moments in between. You decide the order and move things where you want.

  3. Step 3

    For each lesson you choose from two outlines

    The teaching activities come from our own library of nearly two hundred worked-out activities, not from a language model. You pick an outline and say what should be different.

  4. Step 4

    Every lesson is built right before you teach it

    GoYou makes the presentation, the instruction, the practice work and the tutor, in the style you choose. GoYou takes along what your students showed before and what is going on this week. The line to your goal stays in place.

  5. Step 5

    You approve and teach the lesson

    Tweak it, throw out what is wrong, add what is missing. You also decide what the tutor may talk about and when it passes a question to you. Your lesson, your name on it.

  6. Step 6

    The next lesson builds on it

    What your class showed in this lesson decides what happens in the next one. How a series works.

Every lesson starts with a short conversation.

You type one sentence and GoYou asks the follow-up questions. After that, two lesson outlines are ready, both on their way to the goal of your series.

What this is for

Do what you are good at.

GoYou does not replace you. It solves what you cannot do on your own: you cannot split yourself in two.

As a teacher you have twenty-six students and only one of you. You want every student to get help the moment they get stuck, and that is exactly the moment you are standing with someone else. That is what the tutor is for. Meanwhile you do what a machine cannot: lead the discussion, set the atmosphere, see what is happening in the class and decide what is needed.

That division of tasks is no accident. Research keeps showing the same picture: within a school, the teacher is the factor that makes the biggest difference to what students learn, and the differences between teachers are larger than those between schools. So we build nothing that replaces that teacher. We build the tools that leave a teacher more time for teaching.

Important

The lesson stays whole-class. The practice work is personal.

GoYou does not turn your lesson into a self-study programme. You explain, you do the activities with the class, you have the discussion you want to have. What students practise afterwards is differentiated and personalised, but it is practice on what was covered with the whole class. That order is not a detail: it is how good teaching works, and it keeps your explanation in the lead role.

Learning paths

A series is several lessons towards one goal, and series one after another form a learning path. What your students showed in lesson 1 decides what happens in lesson 2.

The lesson

A lesson is one whole: presentation, instruction, practice work and a tutor for your students, in the style you choose.

The tutor

The tutor works through the material alongside every student, at their own level and following their own interests, and stays within your lesson.

The test

A test from your own lessons, with a visible structure, checks in code and a second reader. You approve. Coming soon; our testing policy is already here.

Share lessons and whole series with colleagues, at your own school and beyond, rewritten for their class.
