About GoYou

Why GoYou exists, and where this is going

Power to the teacher is not a slogan. It is the blueprint.

Why GoYou exists.

We exist because teaching material can be much better and much more engaging. That is the reason, not that it has to be faster. Material about the world of this particular class works better than material about nothing in particular, and every teacher who has ever rebuilt a textbook exercise because their group could do nothing with it knows that.

Why it is not like that now is not a matter of ill will but of arithmetic. A textbook method is made years in advance, for an average class that exists nowhere, and then sold to everyone at the same time. Whoever uses it can no longer change anything about it. The teacher who knows best what their group needs is exactly the one who has the least say in it. That is the wrong way round, and it can be done differently: the teacher should be the maker, not the customer.

That is why GoYou makes the lesson at the moment you teach it, and not two years before. As the teacher, you say in plain language what your class needs, GoYou builds the whole lesson (presentation, instructions, practice work and a tutor) and you stay in charge. What was in the news this morning can be in it this afternoon, and so can what your group showed last week.

And yes: every teacher knows the hours they have no textbook method for, and right now those hours cost them an evening. That GoYou saves that evening really is true, and it is nice. But it is a side benefit, not the goal. We started this because it can be better.

And it can be cheaper, because it is expensive for the wrong reason. A textbook method has to be written, edited, designed, printed and sold per student per subject; that whole chain is in the price, even for the student who hardly opens the book. We do not ship anything. We build the tool the teacher uses to make it themselves, and the sums for that work out differently.

Why you can trust us to keep it that way: not because we promise, but because we have set ourselves rules you can check. Students never pay. One price for everyone. No price per student and no price per subject. No claim on the site that cannot be backed up somewhere. What we cannot do, we say. That is not modesty; it is the only way a school can take us at our word.

The initiative.

GoYou is an initiative of people who know education from the inside, from three angles at once: years in front of the class, years developing teaching material for publishers, and years building software.

This is exactly the combination this kind of work calls for. Anyone who only knows the technology builds a chatbot with a school logo. Anyone who only knows education gets no further than a good idea. And anyone who has never published teaching material underestimates how much craft goes into one good task.

The teaching know-how under GoYou comes from that practice: the library of teaching activities that every lesson is built on was written and edited by educational developers who first spent years in front of the class and then spent years making teaching material for publishers.

GoYou rests on three worlds: experience in the classroom, experience in publishing and experience in software development. Where they meet, GoYou comes into being. GoYouIn the classroomPublishingSoftware

Where it is going

And we have only just started.

Now: the beta

Free, for teacher and student, in small groups so that every participant is really heard. The teachers who join now help build it: their feedback decides what gets better first.

After that: our own images

We are building a curated image library, so that teaching material from GoYou will look like a well-designed textbook method instead of a generated presentation.

After that: from single lesson to full method

Learning objectives and assessment points for each level, so you can set up a complete subject for a whole school year instead of lesson by lesson.

And then: better by the day

GoYou grows along with the technology. Every step AI takes ends up with us as better lessons. What is good today will be even better in six months.

Want to think along?

If you are a teacher and want to think along about what could be better, we would like to hear from you. That is exactly what the beta is for: the people who use it decide what gets better first.
