A generic lesson or series is written for everyone, and so for no one. Your students switch off at an example that has nothing to do with their field, while every profession is full of real numeracy situations: dosages in healthcare, bills of materials in construction, margins in commerce.

One gets it straight away and is bored, another gets stuck on the first question. They all get the same handout, because making a second version costs you an evening.
Explaining which programme this is, every single time
Ask an AI for help and you start from zero every time: which programme, which level, what they run into on their work placement, how you work. And halfway through you notice you have forgotten something.
It is correct, but it does not reach them
The subject is right and the level is right, and still nothing moves in the class. What is missing is this particular group: what they talk about themselves, what they do outside school, what they run into on their placement. So they do it because they have to. What you have lost is their intrinsic motivation, and that is exactly what you need.

Say you teach numeracy on the MBO nursing programme (Mbo-Verpleegkundige). You tell GoYou which programme you teach and how much time you have. The explanation on the board and the tasks are then about dosages and fluid balance, and not about a building site. And it goes further than the programme: if you give the same lesson in Business Administration, the student who games gets a different angle from the tutor than the student who dances.
